NO. 12 KANSAS STATE FENDS OFF LEHIGH AFTER HALFTIME
Dean Wade scored 14 of his 18 points in the second half, Barry Brown added 16 and No. 12 Kansas State beat Lehigh 77-58 on Saturday in Manhattan, Kan.
The Wildcats (6-0) controlled the second half after the Mountain Hawks hung around and trailed by two at halftime. They continued their home shooting woes, making 6 of 20 3-point attempts.
James Karnik had 15 points and eight rebounds for Lehigh (4-2), which compiled 16 turnovers and made just nine field goals in the second half, shooting 28 percent.
Kansas State led 37-35 at halftime as neither team build a lead larger than five in the first 20 minutes.
No. 13 Virginia Tech 75, Saint Francis (Pa.) 37: Ahmed Hill scored 19 points, and the Hokies (5-0) quickly pulled away during the second half in Blacksburg, Va. Ty Outlaw added 15 points, all on 3-pointers. Myles Thompson had 14 for the Red Flash (1-4), who shot 25.9 percent and committed 22 turnovers.
No. 22 Buffalo 76, Marist 49: CJ Massinburg scored 21 points, Jayvon Graves added 16 and the Bulls (5-0) found their stroke and overcame a slow start to beat the Red Foxes (1-4). Buffalo, which is in its first-ever stint in the AP Top 25, is 5-0 for the first time since 1985-86, when it competed in Division III.
The Citadel 84, South Florida 81: Lew Stallworth tossed in 25 points, and sophomore reserve Kaiden Rice scored 22 as the Bulldogs (3-2) rallied late to beat the Bulls (4-2) in Tampa.
Laquincy Rideau – who scored six straight points to give USF a 79-75 lead with 2:39 remaining – and David Collins led the hosts with 21 apiece.
Drew gets 300th win at Baylor: King Mcclure scored a career-high 27 points, and coach Scott Drew earned his 300th victory with Baylor as the Bears (4-2) beat George Mason 72-61 for third place at the Emerald Coast Classic in Niceville, Fla. Drew, who is in his 15th season with Baylor, is one of 17 active coaches with 300 wins at their present school.
His 320th overall win also gives him one half as many as his father, Homer.
