As she’s heading off on a Christmas trip to meet George’s family for the first time, however, Jillian has an uncanny encounter with a toy-store Santa that leaves her with a highly inconvenient new compulsion: She can’t stop blurting out the truth about everything.

Adapted from an addictive truecrime podcast by Los Angeles Times reporter Christopher Goffard, this new eight-episode limited series stars Connie Britton (“Nashville”) as Southern California interior designer and single mom Debra Newell, who is quickly swept off her feet by handsome Dr. John Meehan (Eric Bana). The whirlwind courtship that follows unfolds at such a dizzying pace that it alarms Debra’s two daughters (Julia Garner, Juno Temple), who eventually discover Meehan is a charismatic conman. Jean Smart also stars.
