PASCAGOULA

Thurs­day night, Jan­uary 10, 2019, for many a nor­mal evening, but for the Northrop fam­ily it was the day they lost the ma­tri­arch of their fam­ily, Ruth Marie Northrop. In that mo­ment, Toddy and Ruth were once again, to­gether.

Ruth was born Au­gust 22,1939 in Pa sc ago ula to John and Vi­vian Gaffney. She was co-owner and founder of Northrop Elec­tric which was founded in 1975. Mrs. Ruth a shrewd busi­ness woman, had charm and when needed, grit and tenac­ity. She and her hus­band Dan, to­gether made a great team un­til his death in July of 2017 after 59 years of mar­riage. She also worked at In­galls Ship­build­ing and owned and op­er­ated Todd y’ s Sand­wich Shop. She was a mem­ber of Our Lady of Vic­to­ries Catholic Church, Ladies Aux-BPOE 1120 and Past Queen. Ruth en­joyed trips to the casi­nos, card games with friends, trav­el­ing, bowl­ing, Mardi Gras, cook­ing for fam­ily gath­er­ings and Sun­day dessert night.

In ad­di­tion to her par­ents and “Big Dan” she was pre­ceded in death by her moth­erin-law, Shirley Northrop.

She is sur­vived by three sons, Dan F. Northrop Jr. (Diane), Todd Northrop, and Jack Northrop (Priscilla); grand­chil­dren, Ja­cob, Land an, and Han­nah Northrop; step­grand­chil­dren, Angie M in­ter and Melanie Bryant( Stephen ); step-great-grand­chil­dren, Gaines and Emer­son Bryant; brother, John Gaffney (Car­olyn ); aunt, Margie Rouse -Syz­mon­ick; sis­ters-in-law, Ellen Cole (Ray) and Gail Meis­ner (Ar­lon); her beloved furry friend and com­pan­ion, GiGi Marie Northrop, many nieces, neph­ews, other rel­a­tives and friends.

Serv­ing as pall­bear­ers will be em­ploy­ees of Northrop Elec­tric, Craig Nel­son, Jeff Brous­sard, Lee Mathaler, Chris Flow­ers, Erik Barthol, and Michael Schoeder. In leiu of flow­ers the fam­ily sug­gests do­na­tions to the St Jude Foun­da­tion.

Vis­i­ta­tion will be Tues­day, Jan­uary 15, 2019 at O’BryantO’Keefe Fu­neral Home in Pascagoula, MS from 12 – 2 pm. The Fu­neral Ser­vice will fol­low at 2pm in the Chapel with Fa­ther Tony Ar­guel­las of­fi­ci­at­ing. In­ter­ment will con­clude at Mac hp el ah Ceme­tery.
