Witherspoon to revive ‘Legally Blonde’ in Prime Video series

Reese Witherspoon’s blonde ambition will live on again – this time as a streaming series for Amazon Prime Video.

The Academy Awardwinning actress, who rocketed to fame as Elle

Woods in 2001’s blockbuster film “Legally

Blonde,” has plans to revive the franchise for a new audience.

Variety reports that a TV show is in the works at Amazon, with Witherspoon attached to executive produce through her Hello Sunshine media company.

With no plot details revealed, it’s unclear if the 48-year-old actress will reprise her role as the pink-clad Harvard Law School alum.

The outlet previously reported that Amazon was seeking new projects to take on based on intellectual properties it acquired when it purchased MGM in 2022.

“Legally Blonde,” which grossed over $141 million at the box office, spawned two sequels, a Tony Award-nominated Broadway musical and other TV projects, including an

MTV talent competition series.

Witherspoon, who went on to win an Oscar for her role as country music trailblazer June Carter Cash in “Walk the Line,” also produced the “Legally Blondes” TV movie that aired on ABC Family in 2009.

The official date has been set for Pat Sajak’s final turn on “Wheel of Fortune.”

The longtime host will bid farewell with his last appearance on June 7, according to Deadline. The episode, which has already been filmed, will also serve as the season 41 finale of the game show.

After more than 40 years presiding over the iconic primetime guess-it game, Sajak announced his retirement from the show last June.

The 76-year-old tweeted that “the time has come” for him to move on from “Wheel.”

“It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months,” the former Chicago radio personality wrote. “Many thanks to you all.”

Late TV titan Merv Griffin originally tapped Sajak to host “Wheel of Fortune” as a replacement for Chuck Woolery in 1981. Although NBC execs reportedly thought he was too local for the national show, he had already cut his teeth with two game show pilots: “Press Your Luck” and “Puzzlers.”

Two weeks after the retirement announcement, former “American Idol” and “Live with Kelly and Ryan” host Ryan Seacrest was tapped to replace Sajak for season 42.
