Joseph Bernard Duteil, Jr., age 93, passed away on Tuesday, Jan­uary 8, 2019 in Bay St. Louis, MS.

Mr. Duteil was a life res­i­dent of New Or­leans and moved to Bay St. Louis, MS in 1994. He was a veteran of WWII, hav­ing served over­seas with the Army Sig­nal Corps in France, Ger­many and Aus­tria, earn­ing a bat­tle star for the Ar den n es cam­paign. He was a mem­ber of Post 139 Amer­i­can Le­gion and Post 3252 of the VFW. He was hon­ored to be on flight four of the Honors Flight to Wash­ing­ton, DC. He re­tired as a trans­porta­tion Man­ager from the New Or­leans Pub­lic Schools and Amer­i­can Tran­sit Corp. where he was Res­i­dent Man­ager of Gretna, LA, a mem­ber of R.S.V.P. and ac­tive in the AARP Tax-Aide pro­grams.

Heist he hus­band of Shirley Hoff­man Duteil, fa­ther of Gail Ann DeVasConCel­los (Harry) of Bay St. Louis, MS and the late Dana Lyn Purdy (James) of Slidell, LA.; and also sur­vived by 6 grand­chil­dren, Jef­fery J. DeVasConCel­los (Mary) of Florence, SC, Brian E. DeVasConCel­los (El­iz­a­beth) of Spring Lake, MI, Paul D. DeVasConCel­los (Danielle) of Rich­land, WA, Rachel Purdy Reis (Steve) of Tampa, FL, Adam P. Purdy (Tracy) of Gulf Breeze, FL, Ja­son J. Purdy (Lau­ren) of Jack­sonville, FL; and 9 great grand­chil­dren. His cousin, Arnold J. Schlottmann of Picayune, MS, was a close friend.

He was pre­ceded in death by his par­ents, Joseph B. Du teil Sr. & Lil­lian Caroline Piske Duteil; and his daugh­ter, Dana Lyn Purdy.

A Mass of Chris­tian Burial will be cel­e­brated at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan­uary 12th at St. Rose de Lima Catholic Church, Bay St. Louis, where friends may visit one hour prior.
