Sutherland, Kelly pace Tigers

Phil Sutherland scored 19 points and Jason Kelly added a 16-point effort to help lead the Tyngsboro boys basketball team to a 61-28 win over visiting Littleton Tuesday night.

Ryan Gauthier chipped in with 12 points for Tyngsboro, and Riley O’hayre, Gabe Tuck and Mitch Anderson had four points each. For Littleton, Tyler Merrill scored nine points and Tony Desisto had five.

Seniors Larry Bevis (13 points) and Jalen Massengill (10 points) led Shawsheen Tech (7-3, 6-2) in a hard-fought loss. The Rams will look to bounce back with another tough league matchup at Chelsea Friday night.

Twelve players got in on the scoring for the Gryphons, who won their fifth straight game. Leading the way were Jose Lazu (18 points), Tyler Bussey (12 points), Jacob Burk (13 points) and Kaden Christians­en, who was outstandin­g on defense.

Westford Academy (9-4) sophomore Ethan Ewing hit a put-back at the buzzer to send the game to overtime, but Concord-carlisle pulled away in the extra session. Junior Matt Sepe led Westford with 12 points and seven rebounds, and senior Jake Barisano chipped in with 10 points. The Grey Ghosts will host their inaugural Alumni Night Friday, when they host DCL Large rival Acton-boxboro.

Senior guard Tim Stark scored 24 points, Kyle Plausse had 17 points, and Joe O’malley led the Groton-dunstable (8-4) defensive effort with six steals and 12 rebounds.

Derek Crowley (23 points), Justin Paul (14 points, 8 rebounds) and Matt Crowley (14 points) helped Pelham (6-1) battle back after a sluggish start.

Girls basketball

Hannah Polce had another big game, recording 18 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists, as she helped Chelmsford (10-1, 7-1 MVC) lock up a spot in the postseason. Also playing well in the victory were Kate Kruger (8 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists), Ellen Angwin (6 points, 8 rebounds) and

Abbey Quirbach (8 points, 2 rebounds), who played a great game on defense.

Billerica (7-3) spread the scoring around, led by Sydney Sartell (13 points), Madison Watford (10 points), Kayleen Maccormack (8 points) and Madison Bonvie (7 points) Allie Wild led Tewksbury (7-5) with six points and also had nine rebounds.

The Red Raiders (2-11) picked up their second win of the season, led by Kiana Pronh (10 points), Tiffany Kem (8 points), Niky Yrrizarry (8 points) and Athena Mowatt (7 points).

Molly Shanahan scored 15 points to pace Notre Dame, followed by teammates Maddie Walent (13 points) and Maeve Mccomas (10 points).

Aliza Som continued her stellar season with a 21point effort for Greater Lowell Tech (5-5). Also playing well in defeat were Kaelynn Tanner (10 points), Nellie Chan (8 points, 8 rebounds) and Mersede Comtois-pena (8 rebounds).

The Crusaders fell to 7-4 on the season with the tough loss to unbeaten Wachusett Regional. Senior Bronwyn Mulligan led Groton-dunstable with 11 points and four rebounds and junior Katie Eberhardt chipped in with eight points and four rebounds.
