Greenmont School students moved after heat issue
A heating issue caused students and staff at Greenmont Avenue Elementary School to be re-rerouted to Dracut High School Tuesday morning, according to a school official. Dracut Schools Superintendent Steven Stone said in an email that a heating system failure occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. As repairs were expected to take roughly four hours, the decision was made to move students and staff, who were scheduled to begin classes at 8:30 a.m., to the high school, Stone said.
Classrooms were arranged and teachers began instruction at the high school by 9:30 a.m., he said. But repairs took less time than expected, and students and staff were able to return to their building by noon, according to Stone.
Stone did not respond to an email asking whether the cause of the heating failure has been identified.
