way,” Moriarty said.
The organization was started up in 2010 by wellknown community activist Maureen Mckeown, who passed away late last year. The goal of Table of Plenty in Chelmsford was to alleviate food insecurity and to provide a place for community members to break bread.
The coronavirus pandemic has forced a restructuring of the nonprofit’s methods of helping the community, but the mission hasn’t wavered.
“Between furloughs and job losses, and just people struggling to make ends meet, I think there is more and more insecurity,” Moriarty said. “I think there’s been tremendous generosity in the community too.”
Local business Aggregate Industries Inc., a local asphalt, paving and crushed stone supplier, recently stepped up to help. According to Moriarty, the company’s vice president and general manager Bob Andersson — who grew up in Chelmsford — reached out about his company and employees helping out with funding and groceries for Table of Plenty’s grab-andgo mission.
Aggregate Industries Inc. and its business partners then came together to donate more than $19,000 to the nonprofit to help the organization continue giving well into the future. The businesses that contributed include All States Materials Group, Alllied Paving Corp., Atlantic Paving Corp., BitCon Corp., D&R Paving, E. J. Paving Company Inc., Garrity Asphalt Reclaiming Inc., Haulhubtechnologies, Indus Pavements, Milinazzo Paving Corp., Mystic Motor Transportation Inc.,
Nashoba Paving Co., Nocella Paving, Sunshine Paving Corp. and U.S. Pavement Services.
“It’s really incredible,” Moriarty said about the donation. “It’s going to help us sustain our mission for a good long time.”
