Use oracle cards to get closer to the divine

Dear Bev: Oracle cards have existed since ancient times and are a great way to tune in to your angels and guides and start receiving daily messages and guidance every day. I highly recommend getting a deck or decks.
Some even collect decks, as they are so beautifully decorated and offer different advice.
An oracle deck is one of the ways we can tune into the spiritual world and focus our intention and spiritual energy to receive divine knowledge. These cards often reveal things about us that only spirit could know.
Choosing a deck is your own personnel preference, and each deck will look slightly different from others. The deck you choose must resonate in some way with you.
The best way to pick a deck is to go to a metaphysical store or even online and look at each deck. The deck that seems to pop out to you and catch your attention would be the deck for you.
Different decks work similarly but might offer different meanings. If you are looking to connect to the angels, find a deck with pictures of angels. If you are looking for guidance, you might find a deck with images of guides offering guidance on life situations.
The tarot deck has much to offer, but with more specific meaning in each card. Some study these cards for years to give a reading, so sticking with a simpler deck might be the way to start your journey with cards.
Each deck you purchase will come with instructions. They will include different spreads — how you can lay out the cards for a longer message for yourself or someone you are reading.
I like to tell my students to make the cards their own first, meaning when you open your deck, start by taking each card in your hands. This act begins the transfer of your energy into the cards.
Then you will want to bond with your cards, so shuffle them over and over and get to know them.
After getting to know your cards, you can then set an intention. Setting an intention and connecting to source is especially important, and this step leads to a relationship with the divine.
By closing your eyes, taking a few breaths and focusing on your question while you shuffle, the cards will lead you to this connection and to your answer.
Trusting your gut instinct will lead you to success when drawing the cards. I think it is fun to draw a card each day and leave it out on a table. At the end of the day, I go back and see if my card helped guide me or affected any situations that might have arisen that day.
There is so much to learn about this ancient art of using oracle and tarot decks.
You can make it simple or invest a lot of time into the cards and their meanings. Either way, if you are looking for some answers on love, career, relationships, spiritual, health and finances, this is a way to start using your intuitive abilities that we have been given.
