“Our relationship with the Sandy Hook Promise organization has been invaluable,” said Superintendent Steven Stone. “That relationship has provided us with resources supporting a range of social and emotional needs. Most importantly, Sandy Hook Promise has provided access to an anonymous reporting app that allows individuals to alert us about concerns and potential safety issues within our schools. The power of the Sandy Hook Promise resources also strengthens our working relationship with the Dracut Police Department, as they also benefit by immediate notification if there is a life threatening concern.”
“The safety and security of our schools is of utmost importance,” added Dracut Police Chief Peter Bartlett. “Our ability to have access to the Sandy Hook Promise resources, through our partnership with the Dracut Public Schools, increases our department’s ability to respond quicker to life threatening situations. This program gives students, faculty and staff the ability to voice concerns and be heard quickly to save lives.”
Sandy Hook Promise’s evidence-based program trains teachers and students to recognize, intervene and get support for at-risk individuals. By participating in the program, students learn mental health awareness, and can play a role in improving the overall culture and community in schools.
Sandy Hook Promise is a national nonprofit organization with a mission to end school shootings and create a culture change that prevents violence and other harmful acts that hurt children.
