Student drama gets fully aired

lowell » Lowell Catholic students have been finding creative ways to express themselves through the arts despite the challenges of the current school year.

LC Players, the school’s drama club, has faced limitation­s due to federal and state pandemic guidelines. That does not mean the club hasn’t found success.

Although in-person shows and showcases have been paused for the time being, the club has utilized a fun and accessible alternativ­e. Their recently establishe­d radio show, overseen by Fine Arts Instructor Maeve Harrington, has allowed students to showcase their creativity.

By following all safety recommenda­tions, including social distancing and wearing masks, the club is able to host these shows in a positive and safe environmen­t.

surely will bring so much more to the program now and in the near future.”

Students use cloudbased editing software so that they can record their parts remotely if necessary. They have produced shows with varying themes, including Halloween and Christmas, shared original scary stories, retold works from authors like Edgar Allen Poe and a reading of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.”

The radio show has resonated with the LC community and continues to show the importance of fine arts at Lowell Catholic.
