Your loved ones want to talk to you
DEAR BONNIE » How can I tell if I am having a dream about my loved ones, or I am truly having a visitation from them in heaven, versus not making things up in my own mind? I feel my parents around me at different times and it always makes me feel safe. Are there some ways I can tell for sure?

DEAR DAWN » Visitations from heaven seem to feel more real and often you can hear your loved ones speaking with you. You might even see a whole scenario going on almost like you’re in a play. If you can see vibrant colors, hear music, and feel a hug from a loved ones, it’s probable you are having a visit from heaven. These visits usually tend to happen when we need a little extra TLC. The spirit world is not some far-off place and our loved ones are close by, especially when you’re feeling down or need that hug.
You can also have a visitation from a pet that you have had a connection with. Many times, during mediumship readings I will see your pets that have passed still around you. That connection never goes away. Recently, I wasn’t feeling well myself and just before waking up I saw my Great Dane Sinbad and my golden retriever Captain Jack sitting at the top of my driveway as though they were guarding my home and standing guard over me like they always did.
I am like you; I was excited they were together and showing me they were still around me, even after years have passed. I felt comforted and safe. If you feel your cat jump on your bed like she always did, say hello and welcome the visit as cats often stay close. During an event I was giving at an inn in New Hampshire, a white horse started following me around the room. This horse, of course, was in the spirit realm but it wanted me to give a message to her owner. I did and it was such an amazing heartfelt message the tears were flowing.
Other visitations may include feeling a chill all of a sudden and there is no breeze or actual temperature change. We can sometimes feel the energy of our loved ones when they are in our presence. Have you ever felt a quick chill and you’ve asked yourself what was that? It might be your loved one coming or going. Another feeling is actually a feeling of bliss that happens all around you but for some unknown reason. This feeling almost feels like pure joy has surrounded you and could be your hug from a loved one or an angel as they wrap their heavenly wings around you.
How can you tell if you have been visiting heaven? We have a cosmic cord that keeps us connected to God and heaven and we visit them just like our loved ones visit us. If you have ever been asleep and all of a sudden your whole body starts to jerk, it might be your soul coming back from a visit and you’re feeling the coming home part. When I ask my clients if this has ever happened to them more often than not, I get a yes.
When you know you are experiencing a visit, try to stay calm and enjoy the moment. Write down your experience on a piece of paper and try not to think about it too much, acknowledge that it happened — I am sure there will be more to come. Before you go to sleep at night ask for a visit. It might not happen that first night but don’t give up. Your loved ones want to talk to you as much as you want to talk to them.
