Ford grabs Lightning nameplate for EV pickup

-

Bringing back an Icon is the new Ford normal. First the Maverick, now the Lightning!

With over a 320 mile range, the Ford F-150 just went electric. For a half ton pickup, the usability is no secret that Ford continues to be top truck for most consumers as its a Ford Truck. What more could you want?

In Grasso’s Garage, Ford is what it’s all about, and the Lightning is what’s on the Agenda. We have reviewed many picks from Ford in the past and the Lightning is the first EV pickup tested in our stable. What’s not to love from the standard F-150, carries over to the Lightning as its Frunk boasts great storage space, electric plugs and room for just about anything.

Wrapped in Iced Blue Silver and powered by a Dual Emotor with extended range battery, the F-150 Lightning really shines. The single speed transmission pairs nicely as well for the EV pickup while sending 580 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque to the wheels. Our zerosixty time came in at 4 seconds flat. Warranties for the Lightning are nicely offered with 8 year/ 100,000 electric vehicle components, 3 year / 36,000 bumper to bumper as well as 5 year / 60,000 mile for powertrain, roadside assistance and safety restraints. Our XLT optioned Lightning came with 20 inch General Tires ensuring the comfort was at the forefront.

Our Dark slate interior was comfortable and sleek while having some nice interior designs. Cloth seats, a 12 inch infotainment system, power adjustable pedals, 2-120v power points and propower onboard 9.6 kw were just a few as well as 4 outlets in both the frunk and bed. Tow technology with smart hitch and on-board scales was also nicely equipped and functional.

When people think of trucks, they think Ford and for good reason.

The F-150 Lightning is the first EV pickup truck in Grasso’s Garage which was a nice segway into the EV future. The Lightning is a nicely equipped, usable truck, with all the bells and whistles, the aesthetics of a real work truck and a perfect nameplate for the EV pickup of the year in Grasso’s Garage. Great work Ford!
