LOWELL >> A Lowell man was arrested after he allegedly kicked a neighbor in the groin following a confrontation over a noise complaint.

Michael Connors, 32, was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (with the weapon identified by Lowell Police as a shod foot) and unarmed burglary of a dwelling, following the encounter in the Centralville neighborhood on Friday night.

Police reports available in Lowell District Court documents state officers were called to the apartment building at 754 Lakeview Ave. at around 11:20 p.m. by tenants who said a man had just kicked down their apartment door.

Police reports state officers arrived on scene, where they encountered the alleged victim, a 41-year-old man, who claimed the incident unfolded moments earlier when he and his wife heard a man unknown to them yelling and creating a racket outside their apartment window.

Annoyed by the noise, the man told police he yelled out at the man — later identified as Connors — to be quiet. A few minutes later, police reports state Connors allegedly kicked open the victim’s door and told the stunned man, “I know who you are.”

“Fearing an imminent assault, (the alleged victim) attempted to push the male suspect out of his apartment and while doing so, (the alleged victim) states the male suspect kicked him in the genitals with his shod foot twice before he took off out of the apartment,” police reports state.

After the alleged assault, police reports state the alleged victim said Connors ran next door to an apartment at 746 Lakeview Ave., where court documents state he resides. The man reported hearing a female voice from inside the apartment yelling out at Connors, “No, go away, I don’t want you here.”

Connors — who the man told police was possibly intoxicated — then fled the area just prior to police arrival.

During the unusual encounter, police reports state Connors lost one of his sneakers, which he left behind at the apartment. The sneaker was recovered by police for evidence.
