Day of service

LOWELL — On Saturday, more than 500 Rotary clubs and 14,000 Rotarians across Connecticu­t, Massachuse­tts, Rhode Island, New Jersey and New York, plus the countries of Bermuda and Brazil, volunteere­d in their communitie­s for a Rotary Day of Service.

The members of the Rotary Club of Lowell, accompanie­d by City Councilor Wayne Jenness, gathered at Rotary Club Park on Richmond Avenue to clean up and refurbish the park. The club previously met with the Lowell Litter Krewe on April 8 to clean up the park, and followed up on May 20 to finish the cleaning and to repair and paint the park sign. The park includes grassy areas, a skateboard area, a small jungle gym and is next to the Rotary Park Community Garden. The motto of Rotary is “Service Above Self.”

Mobile market schedule

LOWELL — Shop fresh and local at the Mill City Grows mobile markets. The market has expanded to include a fourth day of the week on Wednesday, May 24, 2 to 4 p.m., at Lowell General Hospital, Main Campus, 295 Varnum Ave. Other dates and locations are Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Lowell Senior Center, 276 Broadway St.; Fridays, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Fortune and Flame Sweet Bar, 500 Pawtucket St.; and Tuesdays, from 10 a.m. to noon, at Lowell Community Health Center, 161 Jackson St.

The markets feature seasonal produce. The following payment options are accepted: cash, credit and debit, SNAP/EBT, WIC, HIC (Healthy Incentives Program), senior coupons and Mill City Grows E-gift cards. For informatio­n on payment discounts and options, call 978-455-2620.

Tea time

WESTFORD — Join the Friends of the Cameron Senior Center for an “Afternoon with Friends Tea” Wednesday, May 24 at 1 p.m., 20 Pleasant St. The afternoon soirée includes tea, finger sandwiches, desserts and raffle baskets. The Cameron Center is open to all senior Westford residents. Tickets are $8. All proceeds benefit supporting senior programs at the center. To preregiste­r, call 978-692-5523.

TEWKSBURY — Catch the morning showing of “Moving On,” on Friday, May 26, 10:30 a.m. to noon, Meeting Room of the Tewksbury Public Library, 300 Chandler St. The Rrated comedy stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin as two old friends who reconnect at a funeral and decide to get revenge on the widower.
