YORK, MAINE - Michael Decato, son of Raymond S. and Mildred C. (Leclerc) Decato passed away on 05/31/2023 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He fought for that miracle till the very end. His strength, spirit and humor inspired those close to him. He attended the University of Lowell while working at Wang Laboratories in Lowell, MA and retired from Goodwin Community Health in Somersworth, NH. Michael grew up in Westford and Lowell before moving to Pepperell MA where he spent 18 years before moving to York, Maine in 2003.

He is survived by his wife Sharon (Cox) Decato of 43 years and son Brian M. Decato of Sanford, Maine with whom he shared a sense of humor and a very special relationship. He was so proud of his three grandchildren, Antonia, Camille and Jase Decato of Sanford. He also has two brothers, Danny Wasileuskas and his wife Candy of Lowell, MA and Steve Decato and his wife Mary Ellen of Trescott Township, Maine. He is predeceased by his two sisters Irene Woznac and Natalie Couture. He is also survived by many close friends and nieces and nephews that were very special to him.

He loved spending time with his family and was affectionately known as Pa to most kids and lots of adults in the campground where the family spent summers since 1967. He loved to fish and lobster and spent every available moment (tide willing) with his friends and family on the boat and he considered it a bonus if he had a boat load of kids with him – jumping into the water. He had many good friends he loved to fish, lobster, play darts or cornhole with while at the campground. He will be missed by his friends and family.

Calling hours for family and friends will be held from 5 to 8pm on Friday, June 2nd in the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Rd., York, Maine. A graveside service will be held at 11am on Saturday, June 3rd in the First Parish Cemetery, 180 York Street, York, Maine.
