Shawsheen to play for Voke title

The Shawsheen Tech baseball team easily advanced to the State Vocational championsh­ip game with an impressive 7-1 victory over Blackstone Valley on Wednesday in Billerica.

The game only took 90 minutes to complete. The Rams (18-3) will play Bay Path in the final.

Senior lefty Conlen Powell scattered five hits and struck out six in going the distance. Nate Galanis ripped two hits and had three RBI to lead the offense. Other catalysts were Lukas Poirier (2 hits, RBI), Mavrick Bourdeau (hit, 2 runs), Mike Maselli (hit, RBI) and Robbie Welch (hit, RBI).

Boys lacrosse

NIPMUC 7, LITTLETON 4 >> Despite an immense 25-save performanc­e from Gage Carroll, the Tigers were defeated in the CMADA Class B championsh­ip game in Worcester.

Brian Marrese led Littleton’s offense by netting two goals. Luke Laferty and Cam Noyes each scored once, while singles assists were earned by Noes, Brady Decoste, Tim Sturtz and Matt Clark.

Girls lacrosse

BRISTOL-PLYMOUTH 11, GLT 10 >> Greater Lowell lost a tough battle in a State Vocational semifinal. Mykaela Correia and Julia Canario tallied four goals to pace the Gryphons.

Tyler Medina and Emma Finch each provided a goal and assist, while Ashleigh Santos and Nayara Burato dished out an assist each. Davalyn Sanchez made seven saves and earned an assist.

Softball

OYSTER RIVER 3, PELHAM 2 >> Trailing by two entering the seventh, the Pythons scored once and loaded the bases before No. 5 Oyster River hung for the NHIAA Division 2 first-round victory in Durham, N.H.

No. 12 Pelham almost pulled off the upset as Brooke Slaton

had two hits and scored a run. Lauren Lacoss, Shaelyn Hinton and Bella Furtado all singled. Molly Sauer scored in the seventh. Freshman Caileigh Aguiar took the loss, allowing only one earned run and scattering six singles. Catcher Rylie Beisang called an outstandin­g

Girls tennis

NASHOBA REG. 4, TEWKSBURY 1 >> The Redmen were defeated at home in a Division 2 preliminar­y round match.

Tewksbury (11-7) received a victory from the No. 1 doubles team of Ceceila Ho and Darya Mehrabani, 6-0, 6-4. No. 1 singles player Renuka Late dropped a tough 6-4, 6-4 match, while the No. 2 doubles team of Molly Macdonald and Reilly Williams lost in three sets, 2-6, 6-2, 6-1.

WAYLAND 5, G-D 0 >> Grotonduns­table ran into a buzzsaw in fifth-seeded Wayland, a member of the Dual County League, in a Division 3 round of 32 match. The No. 28 seeded Crusaders completed a fine 11-4 season.

LITTLETON 3, TYNGSBORO 2 >> In a battle of Tigers, the visitors staged a narrow upset in Tyngsboro during a Division 4 preliminar­y round match.

In singles, Tyngsboro’s Atena Jasim bested Julia Dinoia, 6-0, 6-2, Littleton’s Ruby Hider edged Kayla Moro, 2-6, 7-6, 106, and Tyngsboro’s Caitlin Hilterman nipped Sohana Sanchez, 6-3, 6-7, 10-5. In doubles, Littleton’s Isabelle Cahill and Kate Ferreira (6-0, 6-2 over Amelia

Johnson and Hadassah Oloyede) and Jaime Suburg and Anita Jacobs (6-2, 6-4 over Lila Kilmon and Rebekah Ruiz) won.

No. 27 Tyngsboro (133) had its season ended, while No. 38 Littleton (9-8) marches on.

Boys tennis

BEDFORD 5, G-D 0 >> Grotonduns­table was swept away by longtime Dual County League power Bedford on the road in a Division 3 round of 32 match. No. 29 Groton-dunstable finishes 6-9.

Bromfield 3, Littleton 0: No. 11 Bromfield shut out the visiting Tigers in a Division 4 round of 32 match. No. 22 Littleton ends at 8-9. BC HIGH 5, CHELMSFORD 0 >> The No. 26 Lions weren’t able to upset No. 7 BC High on the road in a Division 1 round of 32 match. Chelmsford went 10-3 this spring.
