Gryphons power past Dighton-rehoboth

The 35th-seeded Greater Lowell Tech baseball team advanced to the round of 32 in the Division 3 tournament, topping No. 30 Dighton-rehoboth, 3-1, on the road Saturday afternoon.

Tied at 1 in the fifth, the Gryphons (11-8) took the lead on a Dillon Pagliccia double that brought in pinch runner Kyle Jarek. Devin Rocheleau drove in an insurance run in the top of the seventh, drawing a walk with the bags full to plate Brendan Arsenault.

Greater Lowell advances to face No. 3 Bishop Stang Monday afternoon at 4 at Stanley Stankiewic­z Field in Dartmouth.

Jake Torpey earned the win, going 6.2 innings and allowing one earned run on six hits and six walks. He struck out eight before reaching the pitch limit and gave way to Nolan Stys, who recorded the final out and earned the save.

Stys had a hit and a run scored, while Torpey added a hit and an RBI in the victory.

Girls lacrosse

Boys volleyball

NORTH ANDOVER 3, NORTH MIDDLESEX 2 >> The 20thseeded Patriots (14-4) raced out to a two-set lead in their Division 1 round of 32 matchup, but couldn’t stop No. 13 North Andover from winning the final

three sets and advancing.

Sunday’s schedule

Five local teams are scheduled to be in action Sunday.

In boys lacrosse, No. 9 Groton-dunstable (14-4) will host No. 24 Dightonreh­oboth (9-6) in a Div. 3 round of 32 game at 2:30 p.m.

In girls lacrosse, Greater Lowell Tech and Nashoba Tech are slated to play preliminar­y round games. In Division 3, No. 31 Greater Lowell (9-7) will entertain No. 34 Bristol-plymouth (9-7) in Tyngsboro at 11 a.m. In Division 4, No. 37 Nashoba Tech (8-7) will travel to No. 28 Stoneham (5-13) at 11 a.m.

In baseball, No. 14 Tyngsboro (10-10) will host Hampshire Regional (155) in a Div. 4 round of 32 game at 3 p.m.

In softball, in a Div. 4 round of 32 meeting, No. 4 Tyngsboro (14-4) will host No. 27 Quabbin at 2 p.m.
