LOWELL - Dorothy “Dee” (Mckeon) Foley, 75, the beloved wife of James R. Foley, passed away on September 28, 2023, at Mass General Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Dee was born in New Haven, CT on January 12, 1948, a daughter of the late Philip and Harriet (Gillette) Mckeon. She was raised and attended school in New Haven, graduating from St. Mary High School. Dee received her undergradu­ate degree from Boston College and her master’s degree in education from the Umass Lowell.

For over 33 years, Mrs. Foley was a teacher in the Tewksbury School System, where she touched the lives of many students. Upon her retirement in 2003, she and Jim moved to Florida where they made many new friends and countless memories. They returned to Massachuse­tts in 2020 to enjoy more time with family and to spoil their only grandchild, Eva.

Dee is survived by her husband Jim Foley; her daughter, Courtney Peraza and her husband Daniel; and her granddaugh­ter, Eva Peraza, all of Methuen; her sisters, Mary Anne Layman, and Frances Balchus (Michael); many nieces, nephews, and cousins; her brothers-in-law,

Peter Foley and Richard Maher; her sister-in-law Maureen Potvin, and many dear friends. Dee was the sister of the late Janet Maher, and sister-in-law of the late Joseph Layman and Carol Foley.

FUNERAL MASS on WEDNESDAY MORNING AT 10 AM at ST. MICHAEL’S CHURCH, 15 SIXTH ST. LOWELL.
