Winterfest returns to Downtown Lowell
LOWELL— Winterfest returns to Downtown Lowell on Friday, Feb. 16, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 17, from noon to 10 p.m., at the Enterprise Bank parking lot at Palmer and Middle streets. The festival features activities and attraction for all ages, including live music, performances, art, ice sculptures and the popular soup competition.

Empower leadership program
LOWELL — Lowell Alliance and Coalition for a Better Acre are hosting the 8th year of “Empower: Building Leaders, Strengthening Community,” an interactive, nineweek grassroots leadership program that runs from Wednesday, March 27 through Wednesday, May 22. Any resident of Lowell or person who works in Lowell is welcome to apply to the nocost program.
The Empower program provides Lowell’s established and aspiring leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to organize as a community, advocate for change and take action to address issues in and around the city. Many of these workshops are facilitated by local leaders including previous Empower graduates.
Workshop topics include leadership style and organizational skills, how to work with City Hall, communicating your idea and running good meetings, conflict management skills, identifying and leveraging community resources, organizing for change and project planning and implementation.

Nature quest with NRWA
NASHUA, N.H. —
Learn about the diversity of plant and animal life in Nashua parks, and their connection to the Nashua River through an investigative adventure in five city parks during the winter and spring. Families can choose from one or all the following programs:
• Feb. 10: Winter Wildlife and Water at Mine Falls Park
• March 9: River Otters, Beavers & Muskrats at Downtown Riverwalk
• April 13: Spring Surprises In & Around the Pond at Lovewell Pond Park
• May 11: Macroinvertebrates & Metamorphosis at Field Grove.
NRWA will provide each family team with an NRWA Discovery Backpack with field guides, hand lenses, binoculars and other resources for use during the program.
