MUR­RELLS IN­LET, SC Isla Mae Gaffney, 90, died Fri­day, Novem­ber 23, 2018, at her home sur­rounded by her lov­ing fam­ily. Ms. Gaffney was on born March 5, 1928 in Cameron, S.C., the daugh­ter of the late James Evans and Mil­dred Kent Pos­ton Dant­zler.

She was a grad­u­ate of Columbia Col­lege and taught in Dade County, Flor­ida and in Myr­tle Beach schools. She was also co- owner of the Mur­phys Mo­tel for many years. She was a long-time mem­ber of St. Philip Lutheran Church and the Archibald Rutledge Club. She was mar­ried to the late Arthur Ed­ward “Ted” Mur­phy, Jr., and is sur­vived by their chil­dren, Mary Kent Mur­phy Nichols and hus­band Tom, of Myr­tle Beach, Sara “Sally” Mur­phy Wiess­ner and her hus­band Doug of Red Bluff, Cal­i­for­nia, the Rev­erend Arthur Ed­ward Mur­phy, III and his wife Kathy Pa­trick of Hous­ton, Texas, and James Jonathan Mur­phy and his wife Sherry of Char­lotte, North Carolina; grand­chil­dren Christo­pher Lee Wiess­ner, Ja­son RossWiess­ner, Sara KathrynWiess­ner Tanucci, Jen­nifer Kent Nichols, Heather Brooke Nichols Brown and her hus­band Bran­don, Con­nor Pa­trick Mur­phy, Dy­lan Pa­trick Mur­phy, Joseph An­drew McKin­ney, and Kylie Mor­gan McKin­ney; great grand­chil­dren Brett Lee Ihrig and John Joshua Tanucci; and her many spe­cial friends in the Spring For­est com­mu­nity where she lived. Her se­cond hus­band, James Joseph Gaffney, pre­de­ceased her. Funeral ser­vices will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tues­day, Novem­ber 27, 2018 at St. Philip Lutheran Church, 6200 N. Kings High­way, in Myr­tle Beach, S.C., with Pas­tor Ja­son Lee of ciat­ing. The fam­ily will re­ceive friends one hour prior to the ser­vice in the church fel­low­ship hall.
