San­dra (Sandy) Ker­sh­ner, 75, of Calabash, North Carolina passed away onWed­nes­day, Novem­ber 14, 2018 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Bo­livia. Sandy was born on July 28, 1943 in New Bri­tain, Con­necti­cut to Fred­er­ick and Alice Feld­mann. She grad­u­ated from Delta State Univer­sity in 1964 with a Bach­e­lor’s de­gree in Home Eco­nomics. She was a found­ing sis­ter of Kappa Delta soror­ity (Gamma Psi chap­ter) at Delta State in 1962 and a mem­ber of The Or­der of the Eastern Star in Clarks­dale, Mis­sis­sippi. She was also a charis­matic and en­er­getic Kinder­garten teacher for 37 years with the Prince George’s County Board of Ed­u­ca­tion in Mary­land. On July 4, 1964, she mar­ried Gary Wayne Ker­sh­ner in Clarks­dale, Mis­sis­sippi and they raised one son, Gary Wayne Ker­sh­ner II, and one daugh­ter, Leighanne Ker­sh­ner Spink in Ch­e­sa­peake Beach, Mary­land.

Sandy had a pas­sion for paint­ing, read­ing, bird watch­ing, arts and crafts, and gar­den­ing. She was a ded­i­cated mem­ber of the Sea­side United Methodist Church in Sun­set Beach. She en­joyed lis­ten­ing to coun­try songs and Chris­tian hymns, singing proudly in the Sea­side UMC choir, tak­ing mul­ti­ple trips to Walt Dis­ney World­with her best friends and daugh­ter, and spend­ing qual­ity time with fam­ily and close friends. She was a North­ern High School Pom Mom in Owings, Mary­land for many years and the NHS Poms fondly called her “Momma K”. She also adored vis­it­ing with her furry grand­chil­dren in Mary­land - Beauty, Baxi, and Brandi - and spoil­ing them rot­ten. She thor­oughly en­joyed dec­o­rat­ing her home and church dur­ing the Christ­mas hol­i­days and­mak­ing ev­ery­thing sparkle around her. She was al­ways known for her in­fec­tious smile, zest for life, coura­geous spirit, and un­wa­ver­ing faith.

Sandy was pre­ceded in death by her fa­ther, Fred­er­ick Feld­mann; her mother, Alice Feld­mann; and her sis­ter, Martha Feld­mann. She is sur­vived by her hus­band of 54 years, Gary Wayne Ker­sh­ner of Calabash; her son, Gary Wayne Ker­sh­ner II ( Re­nee) of War­ren­ton, VA; her daugh­ter, Leighanne Ker­sh­ner Spink ( Derek) of Sykesville, MD; her brother, Kurt Feld­mann (Sharon) of Ger­man­town, MD; and her grand­sons, Gary Wayne Ker­sh­ner III andCon­ner Spink. She will also be for­ever re­mem­bered by her nu­mer­ous nieces, neph­ews, ex­tended fam­ily, and dear friends.

A memo­rial ser­vice and cel­e­bra­tion of life for Sandy will be held on Fri­day, De­cem­ber 7, 2018 at Sea­side United Methodist Church in Sun­set Beach, NC at 11 00 am.
