Ed­ward R. Mur­ray passed away peace­fully at home, Novem­ber 30, 2018. He was pre­ceded in death by his lov­ing wife, Nancy. Ed was born on June 23, 1934 in Chicago, Illi­nois, a son of the late John J. and Lilly Mur­ray.

He at­tended St. Rita High School in Chicago and grad­u­ated from Michi­gan State Univer­sity with a BA in Ho­tel/Restau­rant Man­age­ment. He was a Vet­eran of the U.S Army. Ed met and mar­ried the love of his life, Nancy, in 1960 and to­gether they be­gan their jour­ney which in­cluded ca­reer op­por­tu­ni­ties in St. Paul, MN, Chicago, IL, West Islip, NY, Sev­erna Park, MD, and Akron, OH. In 1979, they re­lo­cated to Hilton Head Is­land, SC, where they were the pro­pri­etors of Ed Mur­ray’s Restau­rant. In 1989, they moved to Lit­tle River where they owned and oper­ated the Par­son’s Ta­ble Restau­rant un­til re­tire­ment.

Ed had a beau­ti­ful Ir­ish tenor voice and en­joyed singing at his restau­rants. He was an ac­tive Parish­ioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. He was also a 4th Or­der Knights of Colum­bus.

Ed is sur­vived by his four chil­dren, Ed Jr. (Roz), Mike (Hai­ley), Meg (Saul) Shavitz and An­nemari Hardee; five grand­chil­dren, Meaghan and Han­nah Mur­ray; Saman­tha, Is­abella and John Michael Shavitz; his sis­ter-in-law Katie (Ge­orge) Bis­sett; and sev­eral nieces and neph­ews. He was pre­de­ceased by his broth­ers, Jim, Bill, and Jay Mur­ray; and his sis­ter, Mary Sch­mitz.

A fu­neral mass will take place at 10:00 am on Mon­day, De­cem­ber 10, 2018 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, with a ser­vice fol­low­ing in the Colum­bar­ium and Prayer Gar­den.

In lieu of flow­ers do­na­tions may be made to Low Coun­try Food Bank or Knights of Colum­bus.
