Nonprofit organization plans food distributions in Pomona, Chino
Food for Life Ministry, a nonprofit organization based in Chino, is planning food distributions March 20 and April 3 from churches in Pomona and Chino.
The March 20 distribution will be at Accelerate Worship Center, 363 S. Park Ave., Pomona, and the April 3 distribution will be at Gateway Karis Church, 5885 Schaefer Ave., Chino.
Food for Life also has food distributions 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from its warehouse, 4712 Cheyenne Way, Chino. On Saturdays when it does not have a distribution elsewhere, there is a food distribution 9 a.m.-noon at the warehouse.
Families may receive food once per week, and those receiving food must bring a form of identification.
“We have an abundance of food and a large number of people needing food,” Cindy Vande Steeg, who founded Food for Life Ministry with her husband, Al, said in a news release.
“I don’t think I’ve seen more food in our warehouse in the 10-plus years we’ve been here. We encourage anyone needing food to come here, get food for free and apply their funds toward other essential items,” Vande Steeg said.
Food for Life continues to require all attendees to wear masks, practice social distancing, use hand sanitizer and avoid physical contact with others as much as possible.
“As things open up, we’re looking forward to having more grocery food distributions at churches soon,” Vande Steeg said in the news release.
Food for Life welcomes volunteers and donations.
