Galaxy to play 32 of 34 games against West

The 2021 Galaxy schedule will look a lot like last season, with the club playing a predominantly intra-conference schedule.

Aside from the first two games of the season — its opener April 18 at Inter Miami and April 25 at home against the New York Red Bulls — the Galaxy will face only Western Conference teams.

The schedule again consists of 34 games — 17 home and 17 away — with the MLS season starting April 16 and ending Nov. 7.

The league said that “with a focus on the health and safety of all players and staff” clubs will continue to travel on charter flights. This will also allow clubs to travel the day of the game, whenever possible.

The Galaxy’s home opener April 25 will be its first game in front of fans since last season’s home opener. The club announced that starting April 1, presale opportunities for season-ticket members will begin.

MLS will take a break from May 31-June 15 during the June FIFA international window, as well as from July 9-16, which is near the start of the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The highlight of any Galaxy schedule is the scheduled dates with rival LAFC. This year, the teams will meet three times — May 8, Aug. 28 and Oct. 3 — with all three games on national television.

The Galaxy trips to face Vancouver on June 23 and July 17 will take place at Rio Tinto Stadium in Utah, unless the Whitecaps are allowed to return to their home markets. Due to travel restrictions between the U.S. and Canada, CF Montreal, Toronto FC and Vancouver will host their home games in the U.S.
