Candido Rivera, went peacefully to join his loved ones: his parents, Candido Rivera Sr., and Juanita Ybarra Rivera, two wives, Lilia Holguin Rivera and Emerita Garcia Rivera, his son, Albert Rivera, and brothers, Roberto, Benito I, Benito II, Ernesto, and Alejandro Rivera.

He is survived by four children, Ronald, Arthur, Thomas, and Paula Rivera, and Emerita’s children, Annabel Rodas, Sandra Ruiz, and Emerita LeDoux, and Simon Becerra, many grandchild­ren, and great-grandchild­ren.

Candido is survived by sisters, Socorro Enedina and Sally Rivera, Victoria Miramontez, Lupe Lane, and brothers, Gilberto and Martin Rivera, nieces, nephews, close friends and extended family.

Candido was born in the mining town of Dos Cabezas, AZ, and in 1938 came with his family to Bowen Street, Upland, CA, where he grew up and later lived in Ontario and Rancho Cucamonga.

Candido served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corp with a rank of corporal and was awarded significan­t recognitio­ns. After the military, he worked in constructi­on with his brothers, then with General Electric Aviation from which he retired. Throughout this time Candido used his vacations to work with his father in the family’s grape vineyards and the business in Northern California until his father retired, and during this time he was the owner of Johnny’s Bar in Ontario.

As a young man he enjoyed playing ball with the local team of the Mexican -American Baseball League, “Los Piratas” (“The Pirates”). Baseball was his lifelong sport and his favorite team was the Dodgers.

Visitation will be May 10, Stone Funeral Home between 2:00 & 5:00 p.m. with the Holy Rosary at 3:00 p.m. The Celebratio­n of Life Mass on May 11 will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 9:00 a.m. Graveside services at Bellvue Memorial Park will follow the mass at 10:30 a.m. A reception will follow interment at the Rivera-Parra residence.
