One teen dead, two wounded in shooting
One teenager was killed and two teenagers were wounded in a shooting in Corona early Thursday, May 12, the Corona Police Department said.
No suspects had been arrested and there was no description of the attackers, Cpl. Tobias Kouroubacalis, a department spokesman, said about midday.
“It's a whodunit right now. We've been working nonstop to figure out who's responsible,” Kouroubacalis said.
The shooting happened a few minutes before 1 a.m. in the driveway of an apartment complex in the 1300 block of Circle City Drive, a street that also has single-family homes and an assisted-living facility. Callers to 911 reported the shooting, and when officers arrived, they found boys ages 13, 14, and 16 wounded.
All were hospitalized. The 16-year-old, whose name has not been announced, died. The 13-yearold's vital signs were stable, and the 14-year-old had surgery early Thursday, police said.
Police are calling this shooting an isolated incident because there were no reports of gunfire elsewhere around the time of the attack, Kouroubacalis said. Detectives did not know yet whether the shooting was gang-related, what the boys were doing at the time or whether they lived nearby.
Police ask anyone with information on the shooting to contact Detective Slaven Neagu at 951-7394916 or at Slaven.Neagu@ CoronaCA.gov. Information may be left anonymously at 951-817-5837.
