- From staff reports

The Redlands Symphony Orchestra will present “Dvorak in America,” a concert featuring music by Antonin Dvorak, 8 p.m. Saturday in the University of Redlands Memorial Chapel.

Guest soloist is cellist Nicholas Canellakis, who will play Dvorak’s Cello Concerto in B Minor, Op. 104.

“I’m so happy to have Nicholas Canellakis performing with our orchestra,” Ransom Wilson, the orchestra’s music director and conductor, said in a news release. “He is a passionate performer and will no doubt deliver a memorable interpretation of Dvorak’s concerto for cello.”

The program also includes “From the Southland”: by Harry Thacker Burleigh (1866-1949) and Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 in E Minor, “From the New World.”

The concert is sponsored in part by a gift from Larry and Char Burgess. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Tickets start at $18 and are available at redlandssymphony. com or by calling 909-587-5565.
