Chase Silseth will be the first pitcher from the Angels’ 2021 all-pitcher draft to reach the major leagues when he starts tonight against the A’s in Oakland.

Silseth, 21, will be promoted from Double-A, where he was 2-0 with a 1.73 ERA. He had 37 strikeouts and seven walks in 26 innings.

A product of the University

of Arizona, Silseth was the Angels’ 11th-round pick in July 2021, when they famously picked 20 pitchers with their 20 selections.

The Angels created a spot for Silseth by optioning right-hander Elvis Peguero.

The Angels will also bring back left-hander Jhonathan Diaz to start the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader.

Teams are allowed an extra roster spot for doubleheaders, so they don’t need to create a spot for Diaz.

Right-hander Michael Lorenzen will start the second game of the doubleheader, and left-hander Patrick Sandoval will start the final game of the series Sunday.
