Westbound 60 Freeway to close 2 nights in Badlands

-

Continuing construction on the 60 Freeway in Riverside County’s Badlands will trigger a full closure of the westbound lanes this week.

The westbound 60 is scheduled to shut from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. tonight and Wednesday between Gilman Springs Road in Moreno Valley and the 10 Freeway in Beaumont. It also was closed Monday night.

Also scheduled to close are one eastbound 60 Freeway lane and the eastbound on-ramp at Gilman Springs from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly through Wednesday, a news release states.

Closing, too, are the ramps that connect the 10 Freeway to the westbound 60.

To avoid the closures, officials are urging drivers to take the 10.

The Riverside County Transportation Commission is close to completing new truck lanes in a 4.5-mile, hilly section of the 60 that will separate cars from heavy trucks. The closures will give crews room to paint lane stripes on the road, agency spokesperson Cheryl Donahue said.
