Funeral services set for longtime city servant Sam Spagnolo

A public funeral service for Rancho Cucamonga Councilman Sam Spagnolo will be held Thursday, the city announced in a news release.

Spagnolo died May 2 at age 80. He spent 18 years on the City Council and 35 years in fire services.

“On behalf of the city of Rancho Cucamonga, City Council and Fire Board, as well as the Spagnolo family, we would like to thank the public for your condolence­s and outpouring of support following the passing of City Council and Fire Board Member Sam Spagnolo,” the city said in a news release. “Sam dedicated his life to public service and was a pillar in our community.”

His family has invited the public to his funeral services beginning at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter and St. Paul Catholic Community, 9135 Banyan St.

Donations can be sent to the Rancho Cucamonga Firefighte­rs’ Associatio­n. To donate, write a check to RC Firefighte­rs Benevolent Fund and in the memo denote, “In honor of Sam Spagnolo,” and send to RCFA, 9259 Archibald Ave., Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730.
