Top vegan eats

Last month, Yelp released its list of the top 100 vegan restaurants in the U.S. and Canada, and two Inland Empire eateries made the list.

The big winner is Chef Tanya’s Kitchen in Palm Springs, which landed at No. 2.

The eatery also has a location in Palm Desert.

The restaurant serves a variety of salads, soups, sandwiches and tempeh “powerburgers.”

Highlights include the eatery’s Cubano sandwich, which features slow-roasted citrus and garlic seitan in place of the usual pork, along with mayo, mustard, cabbage, tomato, pickle and onion.

The Palm Springs location is at 706 S. Eugene Road. Hours are 11 a.m.-8 p.m. daily. The Palm Desert location is at 72695 Highway 111, Suite A6. Hours are 11 a.m.-9 p.m. daily.

Pomona’s Borreguitas also made the list, landing at No. 25.

The restaurant specializes, naturally, in Mexican food.

The menu features typical Mexican food items — tacos, burritos and the like — filled with potatoes and cactus or vegetable takes on chorizo, al pastor, asada and chicken.

Breakfast items made with tofu egg are also available.

Borreguitas is at 987 S. Garey Ave., Pomona.

Hours are 8 a.m.-8 p.m. daily.

A new restaurant specializing in Japanese and Korean cuisine has opened in Riverside.

Hana Sushi & K Chicken is at 8882 Limonite Ave.

In addition to a variety of sushi, the restaurant also offers a selection of Asian dishes, including Korean fried chicken, bulgogi, chicken katsu, poke and teriyaki.

The spot was most recently a WaBa Grill.

Hours are 11 a.m.-11 p.m. daily except Tuesday, when the restaurant is closed.
