Two people entered a Diamond Bar home and robbed and injured a resident early Thursday morning.

Deputies detained one person of interest, Sheriff’s Sgt. Rick Cardoza said.

The home invasion robbery occurred in the 23900 block of East Sunset

Crossing Road.

The fire department received a 911 call about an assault there at 1:28 a.m., Los Angeles County Fire Capt. Chiyoshi Hasegawa said. One person had an injury to the face, he said. He didn’t know if the person went to a hospital.

The suspects, armed and wearing ski masks, punched the resident several times, according to broadcast reports. Fox

TV reported the suspect stole about $3,000 in cash before leaving the residence.

However, Cardoza has not confirmed those details.

Riverside has seen a rash of home invasion robberies since April 10. The department has pulled off detectives in other cases to help solve the four break-ins.

In one case, a resident was shot and wounded after confronting three armed suspects. The resident is expected to survive, Railsback said.

Riverside detectives plan to reach out to their counterparts in Los Angeles County, according to Riverside police Officer Ryan Railsback.
