Armed burglary suspect is shot dead in Walnut home
A suspected burglar was shot and killed by a resident while breaking into their home early Saturday.
Deputies were called to a reported burglary around 4 a.m. in the 20000 block of East Country Hollow Drive, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. When deputies arrived, the suspect was found inside the home with a gunshot wound.
The residents said they heard footsteps in the home and were confronted by a man armed with a handgun, authorities said. One resident, also armed with a gun, got into a shootout with the suspect, striking him in the upper torso.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both residents were uninjured.
