Franchy Cordero hit a grand slam with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning, lifting the surging Boston Red Sox to an 8-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Sunday.

Trevor Story continued his recent power surge with his fifth homer over the Green Monster in four days for Boston, which posted its fifth straight victory and completed a fourgame sweep over Seattle.

The Red Sox trailed 4-3 when pinch-hitter Christian Vázquez singled against Andrés Muñoz (1-2) in the 10th, advancing automatic runner Bobby Dalbec. After Kiké Hernández hit a tying single, Vázquez was thrown out at the plate by right fielder Dylan Moore on Rafael Devers’ single.

Following an intentional walk and Story’s flyout, Cordero won it with his drive to right on 0-2 pitch.

The Red Sox nearly wasted a solid outing from Nathan Eovaldi, who struck out 11 while allowing two runs and four hits over 6 2/3 innings. PADRES 10, GIANTS 1 >> Manny Machado set a career high and matched a franchise record with four extra-base hits, and San Diego completed a three-game sweep at San Francisco.

On a day when every San Diego starter had at least one hit, Machado’s big afternoon included three doubles, a triple and two RBIs. The five-time All-Star was also intentionally walked. He’s the eighth player in Padres history to have four extra-base hits in one game.

Machado doubled off Alex Wood (3-3) and scored on Myers’ single in the first inning then doubled in a pair of runs in the fourth when the Padres scored five runs and batted around. He tripled and scored in the fifth then doubled again leading off the eighth.

With the game out of hand and his team trailing by nine, Giants manager Gabe Kapler used outfielder Luis González in relief for the second time this season. He pitched two scoreless innings and allowed one hit.

Wil Myers added three hits and three RBIs as the Padres won their fourth straight and sixth of seven.

MacKenzie Gore (3-1) worked six innings of threehit ball and allowed one run. The left-hander had six strikeouts and walked two.

Wood allowed five runs and eight hits in three innings. CARDINALS 18, PIRATES 4 >> Albert Pujols hit two home runs, then caught the warmup tosses when star catcher Yadier Molina made his first pitching appearance to close out St. Louis’ romp at Pittsburgh.

Molina gave up a pair of homers and four runs while working the ninth, eventually completing the Cardinals’ three-game sweep.

But it was not all fun and games for St. Louis. Starter Steven Matz lasted only four pitches before being pulled with stiffness in his left shoulder.

Pujols boosted his career home run count to 683. Pinch-hitting for Nolan Arenado with St. Louis up 11-0 in the fifth, Pujols launched a 425-foot drive off the left-field rotunda.

The 42-year-old slugger added a three-run homer in the ninth off Pirates infielder Josh VanMeter. Pujols is fifth on the all-time homer list and his 32 at PNC Park are the most by an opposing player.

After Matz exited, Angel Rondón (1-0) entered to strike out Ke’Bryan Hayes with his first pitch. Rondón allowed just one hit in five innings for his first win in the majors.

Nolan Gorman and Tommy Edman each had three of St. Louis’ 20 hits. REDS 3, BLUE JAYS 2 >> Joey Votto hit a tiebreaking homer in the eighth inning and visiting Cincinnati held on to beat Toronto.

The one-run win was the second of the season for the Reds, who have won nine of 15 following a 3-22 start.

Votto, who is from suburban Toronto, went deep for the fourth time in 12 career games at Rogers Centre.

The one-out solo drive to right field off Yimi Garcia (0-3) was Votto’s first home run of the season.

WHITE SOX 3-5, YANKEES 1-0 >> Tim Anderson hit a threerun homer and then put a finger to his lips to silence the booing fans, capping a tumultuous weekend at Yankee Stadium and helping Chicago beat New York for a doubleheader sweep.

In the opener, AJ Pollock hit a tiebreaking homer off Aroldis Chapman in the ninth to lift the White Sox.

Anderson had already hit two singles when he homered over the right field wall off Miguel Castro with two outs to cap a five-run eighth.

Before that, the story was White Sox starter Michael Kopech, who retired the first 17 batters he faced on just 60 pitches before Rob Brantly doubled to left field.

Kopech (1-1) allowed just the one hit and two walks while striking out six over seven innings.

Yankees starter Luis Severino scattered eight hits over seven scoreless innings. Jonathan Loaisiga (1-2) lost in relief.

NATIONALS 8, BREWERS 2 >> Lane Thomas hit two RBI doubles and Washington scored a road win over Milwaukee, which lost Freddy Peralta to shoulder tightness in the fourth inning.

Peralta (3-2) left after allowing a run-scoring double to Thomas during the Nationals’ six-run outburst in the fourth inning.

The Nationals entered the day having dropped seven of their past nine, and they had scored a total of six runs in the seven losses. But they had an early 8-0 lead Sunday and cruised to the win.

The Nationals’ first eight batters of the fourth inning all got hits, tying a franchise record for consecutive plate appearances with a hit.

Washington led 3-0 and had runners on second and third when Peralta’s injury forced his departure.

MARLINS 4, BRAVES 3 >> Sandy Alcantara pitched a six-hitter and Miami defeated visiting Atlanta.

Alcantara (4-2) held the Braves to three unearned runs, walked two and struck out seven for his fourth career complete game.
