Michael Ramirez cartoon is a cheap shot at president
The newspaper has shifted to the right to the point of being juvenile and insulting, i.e.: the “Cartoonist’s Take” May 20, with another cheap shot blaming everything on the Biden administration.
It depicts an airliner titled “American Economy” piloted by President Biden with a crew of Democrats heading into a crash landing while Biden tries to find a way to blame it on the Republicans.
This is not only obnoxious but also false, given the current state of the recovering economy and the management of the COVID-19 pandemic that formerPresident Donald Trump ignored, saying that it would just go away.
I have noticed in the letters to the editor that most, if not all, of the ones that the paper publishes are from right-wingers, from cities in Orange County known for the predominately “conservative” population.
Joe Biden inherited a disaster from the “former guy” and is doing a good job trying to repair the damage caused by a completely unqualified and immoral sociopath who should never have occupied the White House.

America can be great again with return of Trump
Re “It’s still Trump’s Republican Party” (May 22):
Maybe you guys should introduce Douglas Schoen to Susan Shelley. Schoen can’t quite figure out why Republicans are still enamored with Trump. Well, Shelley’s piece laid it out brilliantly (“Miss me yet?,” May 22).
Under President Trump, the economy was booming and inflation was tame.
We were safer both at home and abroad. We were energy independent for the first time in 70 years, with gas prices half of what they are today. Mothers didn’t need to worry about finding food for their babies.
Shelley convinced me that you can count me in for MAGA Part Deux.

Separation of church and state in our country
Re “Archbishop: Pelosi will be denied communion over abortion views” (May 22):
In Sunday’s edition, no less, it was reported that the Archbishop of San Francisco will not allow Nancy Pelosi to receive communion because of her views on abortion.
Whatever happened to the separation of church and state?
