The Sunnyvale chapter of Aging 2.0 is holding a kickoff event Feb. 29 to familiariz­e residents with the cross-section between senior health care and technology. The free event is set for 1:30-5 p.m. at the Sunnyvale Senior Center, 550 E. Remington Drive.

Vice Mayor Nancy Smith will emcee the event. Speakers include Daniel Aranki, executive director at the Berkeley Telemonito­ring Project, whose topic is “An Apple a Day in the Age of Smart Health,” and Michael Chen, a technical lead on various “health at home” projects at Verily Life Sciences.

An Innovator Showcase will feature companies that design high-tech senior health products. These include 911Tracker, a cellular watch with GPS that caregivers can use to find Alzheimer’s patients; Clairvoyan­t Networks, which designs software applicatio­ns to provide better informatio­n about patients to caregivers and families; Global Computer Literacy, which holds free cybersecur­ity and computer literacy workshops for the elderly; and LucidAct Health uses technology to help patients stay better connected with their caregivers outside of hospital and office visits.

Other showcase partipants are Helpsy Inc., Phorena, Senior Planet @Avenidas, Yohocare and Zanthion.
