Aging 2.0
The Sunnyvale chapter of Aging 2.0 is holding a kickoff event Feb. 29 to familiarize residents with the cross-section between senior health care and technology. The free event is set for 1:30-5 p.m. at the Sunnyvale Senior Center, 550 E. Remington Drive.
Vice Mayor Nancy Smith will emcee the event. Speakers include Daniel Aranki, executive director at the Berkeley Telemonitoring Project, whose topic is “An Apple a Day in the Age of Smart Health,” and Michael Chen, a technical lead on various “health at home” projects at Verily Life Sciences.
An Innovator Showcase will feature companies that design high-tech senior health products. These include 911Tracker, a cellular watch with GPS that caregivers can use to find Alzheimer’s patients; Clairvoyant Networks, which designs software applications to provide better information about patients to caregivers and families; Global Computer Literacy, which holds free cybersecurity and computer literacy workshops for the elderly; and LucidAct Health uses technology to help patients stay better connected with their caregivers outside of hospital and office visits.
Other showcase partipants are Helpsy Inc., Phorena, Senior Planet @Avenidas, Yohocare and Zanthion.
