Din named vice mayor

At its Jan. 3 meeting, the Sunnyvale City Council selected Councilmem­ber Omar Din to serve as vice mayor. The vice mayor serves a one-year term and is selected by the city council each January.

League needs board members

The Cupertino-Sunnyvale League of Women Voters is looking for fresh faces to replace retiring board members.

“None of our board members would say they have plenty of free time, but every one of them have the heart and passion to make their community better,” the league wrote in its newsletter.

Open board positions include voter service director, who provides coordinati­on for voter service activities such as forums, conversati­ons and meetings, website informatio­n and Voters Edge informatio­n; database management director, who provides informatio­n and assistance in using the membership management system and training resources for database useage; secretary, who records the minutes of board meetings and the league's annual meeting, provides board meeting summaries for voters and maintains the league's permanent records; resource developmen­t director, who coordinate­s fundraisin­g efforts and develops fundraisin­g projects, encourages people to serve as election workers and liaises with community organizati­ons.

The Cupertino-Sunnyvale League of Women Voters is hosting an Elected Officials Meet and Greet Feb. 11, 2-4 p.m. at BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse, 10690 N. De Anza Blvd., Cupertino.
