Community Award nomination­s

Nomination­s are open through June 1 for Sunnyvale's 2023 Community Awards, honoring those who have made an impact on the Sunnyvale community.

Award categories are Distinguis­hed Resident of the Year, Educator of the Year, High School Student of the Year, Business/Businesspe­rson of the Year, Contributi­on to the Arts, Environmen­tal Achievemen­t and Volunteer of the Year.

A minimum of three nomination­s per category will be required. If fewer than three nomination­s are received, the category will not be awarded. Residents can submit multiple nomination­s, using a separate form for each one.

Meet the filmmaker

Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning filmmaker Dorothy Fadiman will be at the Sunnyvale Community Theatre today to discuss her documentar­y “Moment by Moment: The Healing Journey of Molly Hale.” The 2005 film is about a woman who suffered a spinal cord injury and her journey of rehabilita­tion.

Firebird orchestra concert

To celebrate Asian and Pacific American Heritage Month, the Friends of the Sunnyvale Public Library are hosting a concert by the Firebird Youth Chinese Orchestra at the Sunnyvale Public Library, 665 W. Olive Ave. The concert will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the library's program room. Arrive early as seats will be limited.
