ENTERTAINMENT

Far Flung Adventures is beautiful. Or maybe it’s the trail’s proximity to New Mexico’s highest point, Wheeler Peak, that gives it the most thumbs up. The trail is a 4-mile (roundtrip) trek that starts at the Village of Taos Ski Valley. This Carson National Forest trail, which has some steeper points mixed in with mostly level stretches, climbs to more than 700 feet per mile. At its culmination, Williams Lake sits at 11,040 feet. Along the way, outdoor adventurers are rewarded with beautiful columbines, boulder fields and a waterfall near the lake.
