Network has right to dump Barr

Just a point of clarification regarding Ana Klenicki’s column in the June 7 edition of

The Taos News: I agree with the author’s point that if we agree that one must be consistent in the defense of the freedom off speech, one must support Roseanne Barr’s right to say whatever hateful things that come out of her mouth. However, the important distinction is that the decision to silence her was made by the network who paid her. If ABC doesn’t want to be associated with Barr, that too is its right. Her right to say what she wants is protected; her right to try and shop her show to another network is also hers, and another network has the right to buy it if they want.
