Winter donations big help to Men’s Shelter
The Taos community has continued to give generously of meals, clothes, nonperishable goods and money to help the Taos Men’s Shelter through the winter.
“With the weather turning bitter cold, this is truly a blessing,” wrote Brian Price, one of the shelter managers, in a letter.
In November, people donated via The Taos News monthly donation drive:
• More the three dozen pairs of socks
• 30 hand warmers
• Six pairs of running shoes and hiking boots
• Sweaters, long-sleeve T shirts, beanies and gloves, some handmade
* Bathroom tissue, laundry soap and other assorted toiletries.
In December, the Men’s Shelter and The Taos News will be collecting long underwear and bathroom tissue. Items can be dropped off in the box near the front desk of
during work hours or can be brought to the shelter.
The shelter also is always seeking volunteers who can help prepare dinner for up to two dozen people each night and bring it to the shelter, which has no kitchen facilities.
