Win­ter dona­tions big help to Men’s Shel­ter

The Taos com­mu­nity has con­tin­ued to give gen­er­ously of meals, clothes, non­per­ish­able goods and money to help the Taos Men’s Shel­ter through the win­ter.

“With the weather turn­ing bit­ter cold, this is truly a bless­ing,” wrote Brian Price, one of the shel­ter man­agers, in a let­ter.

In Novem­ber, peo­ple do­nated via The Taos News monthly do­na­tion drive:

• More the three dozen pairs of socks

• 30 hand warm­ers

• Six pairs of run­ning shoes and hik­ing boots

• Sweaters, long-sleeve T shirts, bean­ies and gloves, some hand­made

* Bath­room tis­sue, laun­dry soap and other as­sorted toi­letries.

In De­cem­ber, the Men’s Shel­ter and The Taos News will be col­lect­ing long un­der­wear and bath­room tis­sue. Items can be dropped off in the box near the front desk of

dur­ing work hours or can be brought to the shel­ter.

The shel­ter also is al­ways seek­ing vol­un­teers who can help pre­pare din­ner for up to two dozen peo­ple each night and bring it to the shel­ter, which has no kitchen fa­cil­i­ties.
