Taos Inn liquor license up for transfer
The Historic Taos Inn’s liquor license is up for transfer to a Colorado-based luxury property management company.

Taos News was unable to confirm the establishment had sold by Wednesday (Dec. 19).
The license transfer will be heard at 1:30 p.m. today (Dec. 20) in Santa Fe by the State Alcohol and Gaming Division. The transfer is between the Taos Inn and Imprint 1014 Tao, LLC., according to the state.
Imprint, or Imprint Hospitality, is a Colorado-based management company that manages several other hotels and restaurants around the country. According to the company’s website, Imprint only manages “lifestyle and luxury properties.” The company had not responded to phone calls and emails seeking comment before Wednesday evening (Dec. 19).
According to the New Mexico Secretary of State website, Imprint is in good standing and is managed by Matthew Seim, Alexandra Walterspiel and Dave Hoemann, the founders of the company.
“A management agreement dated Sept. 30 ... was entered into between the parties in which owner desires applicant to operate, direct, manage and supervise the hotel,” said Bernice Geiger, public information officer for the state Regulation and Licensing Department, in an email. “The term shall be for a period of five years and shall commence on the date the transfer of ownership is approved, and may be renewed for successive two-year terms.”
The Taos Inn has been listed for sale on Taos Properties for $7.1 million and is still on the real estate company’s “featured properties” tab. Efforts to reach Taos Inn manager Chris Smith were unsuccessful, and no sale has been confirmed by the Taos News.
According to the state, the sale price of the liquor license was listed at $500,000 and the physical location of the license will remain at the Taos Inn at 125 Paseo del Pueblo Norte.
The Taos Inn was first designated as a hotel in 1936 and has since served guests and locals alike. The hotel, often called “the living room of Taos,” holds live music every night and sits in the heart of downtown Taos.
