Prep Sports Roundup
Due to the holidays, it was a light week in prep sports. Here are the Taos County highlights.
Boys basketball: The Tigers took part in the 65th Stu Clark Tournament. They had a tough first seed against
2A powerhouse Pecos. Pecos beat Taos 86-69 Dec. 27, then went on to beat Mora 83-59 the next day and St. Pius X
66-44 Dec. 29, winning the tournament.
Taos won the second game against West Los Vegas
83-59, but lost to Bernalillo Dec. 29 in a tight 63-57 match.
The 7-4 Tigers’ next home game is Jan. 11 when they host the 5-5 St. Pius X Sartans at 7 p.m.
Girls basketball: The Taos Lady Tigers played an excruciatingly close game Dec. 27, going almost point for point with Sandia Prep. The two teams scored the same number of points in the first, second, and third quarters. In the fourth, Sandia Prep scored 8 to Taos’ 7 for a final score of 36-35. Information about the rest of the tournament was not available as of press time.
The Lady Tigers next play Los Lunas at home at 6 p.m. Jan. 8.
