Taos group col­lects goods for fam­i­lies at bor­der

A group of Taos res­i­dents are gath­er­ing do­nated items for a “Car­a­van of Love” to fam­i­lies in limbo at the United States bor­der with Mex­ico.

José Gonzáles and the group End Fam­ily Sepa­ra­tion will be de­liv­er­ing items to shel­ters in El Paso and other com­mu­ni­ties. “We are col­lect­ing do­na­tions for the fam­i­lies who await to be re­u­nited with their chil­dren and those who are wait­ing for their asy­lum ap­proval,” said Gonzáles. “We will take the do­na­tions to shel­ters in El Paso, Texas and Juarez, Mex­ico. These shel­ters are in high de­mand for sup­plies. We want to help sup­port these shel­ters so they can con­tinue sup­port­ing and help­ing im­mi­grant chil­dren, women and men.”

Do­na­tions can be taken dur­ing the fol­low­ing times and days to the lo­ca­tions listed: Taos County Demo­cratic Party Head­quar­ters

11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thurs­day (Jan. 10) and Fri­day (Jan. 11)

3 pm. to 5 p.m., daily through Satur­day, (Jan. 12)

Shel­ters have re­quested the fol­low­ing items: Adult and Chil­dren’s medicine (such as Tylenol, Ibupro­fen) Bandaids Bot­tled Wa­ter Un­der­wear (new) - chil­dren’s & adult Socks (new or slightly used) Jack­ets and Win­ter Clothes (only)

Shoes (all sizes) Back­packs (only) Wet Wipes Blan­kets Cook­ing Oil

Dry Beans and Rice Canned Food Clorox Bleach De­ter­gent Dish Soap De­odor­ant Sham­poo Con­di­tioner Vase­line Tooth­paste Tam­pons Fem­i­nine Pads Di­a­pers Col­or­ing Books & Crayons
