is a group that promotes women’s jiujitsu. Each month they travel to a different school around New Mexico and host a women’s-only open roll and answer questions about jiujitsu. In their first time traveling to Taos, the event will be held on Saturday (June 15) from noon to 2 p.m. at Mata Leao Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, at 112 Dona Ana, Taos. This is a great way for girls and women of all ages to come see what jiuitsu is in a safe, comfortabl­e environmen­t – and it is free.

The Bureau of Land Manageme nt Taos Field Office is continuing the closure of the La Junta Trail at the Wild Rivers Recreation Area. La Junta Point Overlook and Campground will remain open during this time. Visitors can access the River Trail and the lower parts of the canyon from the Little Arsenic Springs Trail or Big Arsenic Springs Trail. The BLM asks the public to respect the closure of the trails.
