Pacheco named to dean’s list
Jacob Pacheco, of Taos, has been named to the Siena College dean’s list for the spring 2019 semester.
To be named to the dean’s list, a student’s grade point average for the semester must be between 3.5 and
3.89.
Siena College, founded in
1937, is a private, Catholic Franciscan, residential liberal arts college in New York state with about 3,000 students.
Dray graduates from University of Vermont
Quinn Dray of Taos, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in studio art during commencement ceremonies on May 19 at the University of Vermont in Burlington.
The university conferred degrees this year on an estimated 3,275 graduates, including 2,580 bachelor’s, 452 master’s, 138 doctorates and 105 medical degree recipients. The Class of 2019 includes graduates from 43 states and 36 countries.
Emery graduates Vassar, heads to grad school
Catherine Elaine “Katie” Emery received a Bachelor of Science degree from Vassar College, in Poughkeepsie, New York, in May. She was a student at Taos Charter School and graduated Taos High School in 2015 where she played soccer all four years, mostly as goalkeeper, finishing as captain of the team in her senior year. She was also active in the drama club, Health Occupation Students of America, Café Scientifique and the Gay-Straight Alliance. She majored in neuroscience at Vassar, with a minor in religious studies. At Vassar, Emery played varsity soccer her first two years. She was named to the All-NortheastRegion Rowing Team, one of only two Vassar students to receive this honor since 2011. On May 11, her Varsity Eight team won the Division III Women’s National Championship title at the Dad Vail Regatta, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the largest collegiate regatta in North America. While in college Emery participated in two summer internships at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where she performed neuroscience research and has chosen to continue her neuroscience research. She is the daughter of Mary and Kelan Emery of Taos.
