Community school searches for coordinator

- By Jesse Moya jmoya@taosnews.com

Efforts to form the first Taos community school are underway at Enos Garcia Elementary, which is looking to hire a school coordinator.

The job for community school site coordinator has officially been posted and members are looking to get the ball rolling on the school. Interested candidates can apply for the administrative position, which will be in charge of gathering members of the community to participate in the school.

Community schools are centralized around student learning and community partnerships. They often have specific and personalized curriculum for the students much like area charter schools. Community schools also focus attention and time on student well-being and mental health. Community schools work to keep students fully engaged with learning, involve families in education and offer support.

The job has been posted by Taos Municipal Schools and the selected applicant will be working at Enos Garcia for the most part of her or his job. The position will require 205 working days and no certifications are needed to hold the position.

Anyone interested in applying is encouraged to contact Taos Municipal Schools directly about the job.
