The following is a condensed version of Taos Police reports from Aug. 7-11.
AUG. 7
4:22 a.m. Welfare check, Quality Inn – A caller said a person had been sleeping in a beige Mercedes in the back parking lot for weeks.
11:17 a.m. Larceny, Gusdorf Road – A caller said someone was in her car and stole her change.
12:02 p.m. Larceny, Taos Police Department – A caller wanted to report that his storage unit had been broken into.
3:15 p.m. Welfare check, Taos
Public Library – A caller said one person was sleeping in the garden area and another was sleeping near the bike racks.
AUG. 8
4:41 a.m. Suspicious circumstance, Quality Inn – A caller was requesting an officer because he said someone was holding girls at gunpoint and raping them. A responding officer later said that the reporting party is a mental patient.
7:29 a.m. Information report, Taos
Municipal Court – A caller said two books were left on the steps, including one titled “Till Death Do Us Part.” 9:48 a.m. Harassment, Morada Lane – A caller said a group of men were harassing him and threatening to beat him up.
1:05 p.m. Fire, wildland, Paseo del
Cañon East – A caller reported a small grass fire. Taos Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire and was able to put it out quickly. 1:14 p.m. Obscene or threatening
phone call, Dea Lane – A caller said an employee at a company that was doing work for them called and made some racist remarks.
2:29 p.m. Sick person, Taos Inn – A caller said a man who smelled of alcohol collapsed in the lobby. 5:25 p.m. Disorderly conduct, Coldwell Banker – A caller said a man was yelling at people and flipping them off as they passed by. 8:39 p.m. Motorist assist, Quesnel Street – A caller said a trailer had come unhinged from a vehicle.
AUG. 9
9 a.m. Larceny, Sagebrush Inn – A caller said she had left a padded zipper case on a chair to go and get breakfast, but when she came back it was gone. It contained an iPad, Kindle and some jewelry.
1:21 p.m. Public affray, Pizza Hut – A caller said two men were fighting behind the restaurant and one was armed with a knife.
8:38 p.m. Trespassing, IHOP – A caller said three drunk men were hanging out behind the building. 9:51 p.m. Domestic disturbance, Montoya Street – A caller was concerned that her sister’s boyfriend was going to shoot people at a house in the area. The caller said the boyfriend is abusive, has choked her sister in the past and carries a .38-caliber handgun.
AUG. 10
3:31 a.m. Shots fired, Amorak Road – A man said someone shot a woman, but responding officers were unable to confirm there had been a shooting or locate a victim.
1:59 p.m. Public indecency, Ace Hardware, 223 Paseo del Pueblo
Sur – A caller said a man in the parking lot was urinating and throwing beer cans.
8:21 p.m. Property found, Holy
Cross Hospital – A caller said there was a man at the hospital who is known to use heroin and had left behind a backpack at the facility. The caller said there was a firearm in the backpack.
AUG. 11
12:19 p.m. Welfare check, Paseo del Pueblo Norte – A caller said a man came into the church and was acting erratic. He then went into the bathroom and took his clothes off. 1:10 p.m. Suspicious circumstance,
Taos Community Auditorium – A caller said a bag of little girl’s clothing was found outside the building.
8:30 p.m. Information report, Mariposa Apartments – A caller said her daughter and a friend were outside picking plums, when some other people started throwing apricots at them and told them they needed to stop or they would beat them up.
