Mon­day (Nov. 11) is for veter­ans and Taos County has a num­ber of cel­e­bra­tions to thank vets here and abroad for their ser­vice.

Taos Pue­blo – Start­ing at 9 a.m. on Mon­day at Taos Pue­blo, a veteran’s cer­e­mony will be held at the Pue­blo Veter­ans Memo­rial fol­lowed by a pro­ces­sion through the vil­lage. This pro­ces­sion will lead fol­low­ers back to the memo­rial and then to the Taps Pue­blo Com­mu­nity Cen­ter where guest speak­ers and other events will be held.

Taos Mid­dle School – will also be host­ing its an­nual Veter­ans Day break­fast from 9-10:30 a.m. with an ex­hibit by lo­cal veter­ans and where they served in the past. All vets are in­vited and en­cour­aged to join.

Town of Taos – The an­nual Veter­ans Day cer­e­mony will be held at Taos Plaza at 11 a.m. fol­lowed by a lunch at noon at the Our Lady of Guadalupe gym­na­sium off Camino de la Placita. The Veter­ans of For­eign War Post 3259 along with Not For­got­ten Out­reach are en­cour­ag­ing lo­cal restau­rants to do­nate desserts, bread and other food items for the pic­nic.

Vil­lage of Questa – will hold an hon­or­ing cer­e­mony at 9:30 a.m. at the Veter­ans Memo­rial Park. At around the same time, the con­voy of the Na­tional Christ­mas Tree will be pass­ing near the cer­e­mony and will get a salute from lo­cal veter­ans.

An­gel Fire – A cer­e­mony will be held at 11 a.m. at the Viet­nam Veter­ans Memo­rial in An­gel Fire. The event is free and all mem­bers of the pub­lic are en­cour­aged to join.

Clo­sures – Both the town of Taos and Taos County will be closed on Veter­ans Day. The North Cen­tral Re­gional Trans­porta­tion District will also be closed and will not run Blue Bus routes Mon­day.
