Monday (Nov. 11) is for veterans and Taos County has a number of celebrations to thank vets here and abroad for their service.
Taos Pueblo – Starting at 9 a.m. on Monday at Taos Pueblo, a veteran’s ceremony will be held at the Pueblo Veterans Memorial followed by a procession through the village. This procession will lead followers back to the memorial and then to the Taps Pueblo Community Center where guest speakers and other events will be held.
Taos Middle School – will also be hosting its annual Veterans Day breakfast from 9-10:30 a.m. with an exhibit by local veterans and where they served in the past. All vets are invited and encouraged to join.
Town of Taos – The annual Veterans Day ceremony will be held at Taos Plaza at 11 a.m. followed by a lunch at noon at the Our Lady of Guadalupe gymnasium off Camino de la Placita. The Veterans of Foreign War Post 3259 along with Not Forgotten Outreach are encouraging local restaurants to donate desserts, bread and other food items for the picnic.
Village of Questa – will hold an honoring ceremony at 9:30 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Park. At around the same time, the convoy of the National Christmas Tree will be passing near the ceremony and will get a salute from local veterans.
Angel Fire – A ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Angel Fire. The event is free and all members of the public are encouraged to join.
Closures – Both the town of Taos and Taos County will be closed on Veterans Day. The North Central Regional Transportation District will also be closed and will not run Blue Bus routes Monday.
